On 23rd September 2026, Mr. Rapibhat Chandarasrivongs, Director-General of the Department of Agriculture (DOA), assigned Ms. Preeyanooch Tippayawat, Deputy Director-General of the DOA, to deliver a keynote speech at the Climate & Sustainability Capital Forum (CSCAP) on the topic “Sustainable Agriculture: The Future of the Global Economy” To showcase Thailand’s policies, achievements, and strategic role in advancing sustainable agriculture and enhancing Thai agricultural products. The Forum was held in at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok.
On this occasion, Ms. Preeyanooch Tippayawat, Deputy Director-General of the DOA, highlighted that the world is facing urgent challenges driven by climate crises and global economic uncertainty. She emphasized that agriculture is no longer just a sector for food production, but the fundamental engine driving global food security and economic resilience. Recognizing this paradigm shift, Thailand is committed to transforming its agricultural sector towards sustainability. To achieve this ambitious vision, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) has established a comprehensive policy framework entitled “Innovative Agriculture for the Sustainability of Thai Farmers”. The policy focuses on five strategic pillars composed of (1) enhancing agricultural production through technology and innovation (2) increasing farmers’ income (3) developing farmers’ capabilities and potential (4) promoting market-led production and (5) Ensuring sustainable integrated water resource management.
The Deputy Director-General of the DOA emphasized that in alignment with these directives, the DOA actively drives these policies under our core motto “Market-Led Research for Safe and High-Value Agricultural Products.” This is executed through five core missions which are (1) disseminating research on crops and agricultural machinery (2) establishing and regulating standards for crops, production systems, and agricultural inputs, while enhancing our certification system (3) conserving and sustainably utilizing biodiversity (4) supporting national greenhouse gas reduction targets to transition Thailand toward a sustainable, low-carbon economy and society and (5) regulating and updating laws under our mandate to align with evolving global trade standards and environmental preservation.
Ms. Preeyanooch also added that the DOA’s progress is demonstrated through concrete achievements. We have leveraged technology to integrate Thai agricultural products into responsible supply chains to reduce production costs, mitigate labor shortages, and advance precision crop management, adapt to global environmental regulations, and optimizing fertilizer application by reducing chemical inputs and expanding organic fertilizers to help improving soil structure, enhancing yields, lowering costs, and creating potential new income streams through carbon credit mechanisms. In addition, the DOA actively integrates the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and the New Theory into our sustainable agricultural initiatives, empowering farmers to build resilient, low-risk, and sustainable agricultural systems.
